Interlude Man by Pierre Negrin for Amouage 2012

Guest Post by Azar

Ed: Hi all. You may remember we had a giveaway recently and the deal was that our winners would write a short speil about one of the fragrances they won. Here is our very first winner review, I think you will agree that it is an excellent first review, evocative and intriguing. Please welcome the lovely Azar. Maybe we will be able to talk Azar into a monthly spot here on APJ. I think she shows the kind of promise that needs to be cultivated. What do you think?

Interlude Man by Amouage

Photo Stolen Fragrantica

Fragrantica gives these featured accords:
Top: Bergamot, oregano and pimento berry oil
Heart: Amber, frankincense, opoponax, cistus, labdanum and myrrh
Base: Leather, agarwood smoke, patchouli and sandalwood

Hello Portia!

The Amouage and Jacques Zolty samples arrived today. All three are beautiful but the Interlude Man just blasts me into an alternate universe…yes!
It isn’t fair to any other scent to sample it after Interlude Man. I suppose what I like best is that for just an instant it seems herby, green and sweet and then WHAMMO!
Excessive Arabian smokey, oudhy, incense, opoponax. The sillage is really out there too. Brad got a whiff two rooms away (and he loved it).

Thank you so much for this draw. When I wonder why I am a perfume junkie, oudh head and frag hoarder with an obscene collection of scents all I have to do is spray a little Interlude Man.

The art on the sample card is great too, a visual description of the scent. The pattern almost suggests the “alternate universe” and the contrasting colors reflect how the various notes play off one another over time.

Nice review Azar! I just forked out on a bottle
of Ubar. I am way to scared to try another Amouage right now! But this sounds yummy!
We are all junkies. Safety in numbers. 🙂

Thank you so much, Cookie Queen! I am totally hooked on Interlude and must spring for a bottle (ouch). Also, just ordered a sample of Ubar. I am convinced that Amouage is really a fabulous deal ( a junkie in denial?) because the materials are so fine and the longevity is forever.

Congrats on your review! I’ve got to do one too. It’s been a tough allergy week though so I’m waiting until my sniffer is functioning a bit better before I test out the samples. Reading how much you loved this and that your going to buy some has me concerned for my wallet’s well being. I’ve been lucky to not get bitten by the Amouage bug yet but the Interlude scents seem to be well loved so I wonder if these will make me swoon too.

Hi Poodle and Thank You! Either one of the Interludes (Man or Women) will get through any drippy allergy or anosmic nose you have going on right now. The oregano in the top of Man and the lingering incense might even make your nose feel better! They both have so much sillage and longevity (especially Man) that they should come with a warning label! Be advised that if you apply it to yourself and don’t like it (not very likely) it defies bathing and just won’t scrub off!

Welcome Azar! Interlude is an intriguing and mystifying stop on the Amouage journey to me, a chameleon of a scent which I seldom wear but love having around when I feel like sitting next to a fragrant haystack in the great outdoors. I like that ‘instant’ you speak of; it comes and then disappears.

I loved your review, Azar! So punchy and heartfelt. I’ve yet to try Interlude Man, but I own a sample of Interlude Woman, which has prompted a yearning for FB acquisition. Totally agree with your reckoning that Amouages are a great deal because the ‘materials are so fine and the longevity is forever’ – they’re more like parfum strength than EDP. Plus, I feel like a million dollars when I’m wearing Amouage, so yes, they’re a bargain 😉

    • Azar says:

Hi Christine! I’m glad you liked the review! I feel wonderful too when I use either Interlude Man or Woman. I know I am not just imagining the high quality of the materials. The effect of this really good stuff is immediate and lasting.

  7. Azar says:

Thank you, Jordan! The APJs and Libertine Parfumerie have started me on my own Amouage journey. Do you have a favorite in this line? I have a sample of Lyric Man that I am trying out tomorrow.

  8. Azar!! Welcome to the APJ family. Great review and I can’t wait to read more.

Hi Portia! Thank you and all the APJ’s for enabling my perfume addictions. Happy (and safe) Travels in India.

For me, the projection of Interlude is just on another level! If you’ve got a couple of spirays on in London, they’ll be enjoying the scent up in Scotland

    • Ha Ha HA! One of the reasons I love it so much.

I believe it! One day I made the mistake of spraying twice before I left the house. I tried in vain to enclose the sillage under my coat. I came home pickled in Interlude. Incense in every pore.

    • Azar says:

I believe this long distance sillage is totally possible with Interlude. The other day I made the mistake of spraying twice before leaving the house. I tried to enclose the power under my coat, to no avail. I came home pickled in incense, Interlude in every pore. Nice but heavy! Latiaxis/Azar

  10. Azar says:

Whoops! Latiaxis is just me, Azar.
